30-Second Movie Review – ‘THOR’!

THOR shines as the Thunder God!

Chris Helmsworth brings him alive as perfectly as is possible – godly arrogance, bravado, and a touch of humanity. Amazingly, the costumes do not look cheesy. The Thor fight scenes against the frost giants are comic book-epic. Asgard was visually impressive. The Destroyer was cool. Hawkeye makes a guest appearance. Story soars when he has hammer; fall flat when he doesn’t. Overall, the movie feels like what it really is;

a setup for the massive AVENGERS release next summer!

(oh, and the full length Captain America trailer was prob more exciting than the entire Thor movie!)

Grade: B

Pay to see twice: No.

Batman: Dark Knight Rises – BANE it is!

So there we have it folks. Nolan has announced the villain for ‘Rises’ will be BANE!

Hollywood and the internets searches are in an uproar over ‘Who the heck is Bane?‘

Of course Bane needs no introductions. Aside from the Joker, Bane probably caused the most pain to Batman – more than any other character. Literally!

Read the historic 1990s Batman ‘Knightfall‘ storyline, wherein Bane systematically wears Bruce Wayne down over a series of days, up to the point where he gives Batman the beating of his life – within inches of dying – and breaks Batman’s back/spine!

Uhh…OUCH?

I was a young teen at the time and let me tell you, that shit was the most tragic thing I had read in comic books! Even more than Superman ‘dying’. I could give a fat flying fig fart about Big Blue croaking….but BATMAN GETTING BEAT DOWN LIKE THAT???? I was close to tears, mang.

OH. And for the Non-fan? Don’t get it twisted. This ain’t that Bane from the ATROCIOUS ‘Batman and Robin‘ movie (the template for what NOT to do in comic book movies) No. In the hands of the brilliant Christopher Nolan, this will be the real deal!

Expect some vicious, psychotic, mind-bending villainy going on in Dark Knight Rises! Ohhhhhh yes!

GREEN LANTERN MOVIE TRAILER IS OUT!

Finally the first trailer is out and it looks GREAT! ~

And for the record, let me say that my cohort and I discussed this over 2 years ago – way before  the movie was in even in talks! That was one of our classic blogs…our FIRST, in fact! (‘DC Comics, WTF?!‘)

now, if we can just get DC and Warner Bros to totally abandon the idea of yet another Superman movie (geeeeeez!) that’d be greeaaaat.

The Verdict is in – AMC’s ‘THE WALKING DEAD’ kicks so much ass!

‘HOW MUCH ASS DOES IT KICK’? you might ask?

It kicks Chuck Norris-type ass for damnsure!

Well….ok maybe not THAT much ass-kicking…

BUT IT DOES KICK ASS!

As far as adaptations go – especially comic book adapts, which can suck if not done properly – AMC brought the zombie funk on this one. All the blood, rotting flesh, and brain-munching gore is there – but the mood, storyline and characterization is nicely ‘fleshed out‘ as well. hell yes, pun intended. lol

STORY: Officer Rick Grimes wakes up in a hospital to a world overcome by zombies. He soon learns that it helps to stay low and stay quiet – and that Atlanta is a terrible place to be for safety! That, plus the few humans left in this rotting world may be as dangerous as the flesh-eating creatures roaming around!

……..Now that I think of it - Chuck Norris vs  zombies.…..hmmmmm..thats a tough one! Chuck has kung-fu, but against a horde of zombies? KUNG-FU AIN’T SHIT!!
